QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
How does an automatic pool cover work?
Automatic inground safety covers work with the help of a few key elements, specifically tracks and a small, efficient motor. Typically, on one end of the pool, there will be a sleek “roller” where the pool cover material rolls up and is stored when not in use. When the switch is activated, the motor turns on and the electric pool cover automatically rolls across the pool area with the help of two tracks on either side of the pool. These tracks can be built inside the lip of the pool for a seamless design, or lay on either side of the pool, above ground.
Can you walk on an automatic pool cover?
Yes. Your automatic safety cover is built to hold the weight of several adults. However, we do not recommend that you walk on your cover. Walking on your cover should only be reserved for emergency situations or removing debris from your cover.
Will an automatic pool cover save money?
Yes. Automatic covers help reduce water evaporation, chemical usage, and heating costs.
Can an automatic cover be added to an existing pool?
In many cases, yes. Automatic covers can often be retrofitted onto existing pools depending on the pool’s design and surrounding deck.
Does my cover require maintenance?
Yes, Just like a car, an automatic pool cover performs best when it’s properly maintained. Over time, components such as ropes, cables, pulleys, sliders, and tracks experience normal wear from regular use. Routine maintenance helps keep your cover operating smoothly, extends the life of the system, and allows minor issues to be addressed before they become costly repairs. Keeping your cover clean and free of debris can help reduce wear, but periodic professional inspections are still recommended. Ask us about our annual maintenance plans to keep your cover in top condition and help protect your
investment for years to come.
What brands do you work on?
We service most major automatic pool cover systems, including repairs, maintenance, and fabric replacements.
When should the fabric be replaced?
If the fabric is showing significant wear, shrinking, tearing, or has reached the end of it’s service life, replacement would be recommended.
